[Opticians] Email List Update

In preparation for the publishing of our Eyelites newsletter
we
have added many of your names and email addresses to our email system,
hosted by Thing.com. This was done for a couple of reasons. It would have
been unwieldy for your webmaster(me) to manage two separate email lists,
as well as the duties in keeping the website up to date. Also, asking Steve
Herber to add another email list on his server while he is graciously not
charging
us for the present list seemed a little presumptuous. Some of you may wish
to
receive the Eyelites in regular mail paper form; if so, simply notify our
Executive
Director, Donna Hatch, at Dnhatch_oaw at yahoo.com. You will continue to
receive
it through the email system as well, but that's what the delete button is
for. Some
of you subscribed thinking it would be just for the Eyelites. In that case,
the delete
button will be handy for everything else we post to you. I would guess about
75%
of the names on both lists are duplicates, in which case you have the option
of
not abusing your delete keys until you are good and ready to do so. If you
decide
to opt out of the email system entirely, simply email me at the address
below
and I will un-subscribe you.
For new subscribers as well as existing ones, just a
reminder of what our
email system is all about: I hope you can make some use of it to buy or sell
equipment,
offer job openings, post your qualifications for a new job, or just chat
with our other
members about the issues facing us today.
The following are some simple guidelines to help you post
your messages,
as well as helping me to post them to the other members for you. Please keep
your
email postings as concise, spell-checked, and grammatically correct as
possible.
For simplicity, please just send your postings to me, Tim Alden, at
timalden at comcast.net.
I'll get it posted for you.
Do not try to post "spam". Un-solicited commercial ads will
not be posted.
I will try, time willing, to email you all job postings.
I strongly urge you to use this forum to discuss issues
affecting all LDO's in
Washington State. There is so little time at the conventions for this type
of in-depth
discussion. My hope is that we can reach a consensus on issues without them
dragging
on year after year as has been the case in the past.
Email list membership is an exclusive perk of OAW
membership.
Please feel free to use it.
Thank you,
Tim Alden
OAW Webmaster
